# Getting Started!

Let's look at four steps to get you started like a Coach 🔥:
1. Draft your starting team
2. Play in the Leagues game mode
3. Get your hands on advanced cards
4. Play in the Tournaments game mode
## 1. Draft your starting team
Your first mission as a new coach will be to **draft your first cards**.
You will have a **budget** and your objective is to draft the best **11 athlete Coach Cards** (1 Goalkeeper, 4 Defenders, 4 Midfielders, 2 Forwards) possible without exceeding that budget.
The game provides a wide variety of performance insights (stats) for each player in order to help you make the best decision possible!

**Team stacking limit**: you are only allowed to draft a **maximum of 4 football players from the same team.**

## 2. Play in the Leagues game mode
The [Leagues](/coach-ligue-1/coach-ligue-1-english/game-modes/leagues.md) is a completely free-to-play game mode and the perfect way to start earning rewards weekly!

Level playing field: The rarity of the cards in your lineup does not impact the final score, meaning that you have the same chances to win as the big players!

**What can you win in the Leagues?** 🎁 *(up to changes)*
*  Athlete Coach Cards and  Coachiz tokens for the top coaches every gameweek.
*  Ligue 1 Coin tokens every gameweek that can be spent in the Store to open Packs
## Onboarding objectives
There are multiple onboarding objectives upon sign up, that once completed, will grant you some rewards to help you improve your initial squad!
You can find them and claim the rewards at the bottom right of your game!
Make sure you complete them to unlock all the potential rewards :thumbsup:
### 3. Get your hands on rare cards
In order to expand your experience, you will need to get your hands on **Pro**, **International, Champion** or **Légende** [Football Cards](/coach-ligue-1/coach-ligue-1-english/football/football-cards.md)! \

A couple of ways to do that:
* [Marketplace 💰](/coach-ligue-1/coach-ligue-1-english/marketplace.md)- purchase cards from other players on the secondary market
* [Store 📦](/coach-ligue-1/coach-ligue-1-english/store.md)- Packs containing a mixed bundle of Coach Cards can be bought in store.
* [Rewards 🎁](/coach-ligue-1/coach-ligue-1-english/rewards.md)**-** you can also win rare cards directly through rewards, as we've seen in the previous section

### 4. Play in Tournaments
[Tournaments](/coach-ligue-1/coach-ligue-1-english/game-modes/tournaments.md) is the most competitive game modes offering the best rewards. \
\
**Start building teams using Pro rarity cards or better to enter tournaments for the biggest rewards!**
Tournaments have specific 'themes' which define which athletes are eligible to register in it. \
\
Some of our current recurring tournaments are:
* **Ligue 1** - only current season's cards of players from Ligue 1 can be registered in your teams.
* **Ligue 2** - only current season's cards of players from Ligue 2 can be registered in your teams.
* *(Incoming in season 24-25)* **Legacy** - these tournaments are only open to old season cards that are no longer eligible for the primary tournaments.
Additionally, 1 Special tournament per gameweek may vary among:
* Both Leagues - players from Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 from the current season's cards can be registered on your teams.
* U23 - only players aged 23 and under can be registered on your teams.
* O28 - only players aged 28 and above can be registered on your teams.
* Underdogs - coaches face restrictions based on their players' past performance to create a strategic composition.
* Formations - special formation tournaments that vary from the classical line-up.
* Diversity - restrictions to limit the inclusion of multiple players from the same team.
* Packed field - a broad field with more athletes on each team.
You will compete with a regular line-up of 11 athletes on the pitch. Each tournament features various divisions, each necessitating specific card rarities for entry. Each division is tied to a rarity, and each division simply requires cards of that rarity **or higher**.
* **PRO** - Requires a minimum of 8 PRO cards
* **INTERNATIONAL** - Requires a minimum of 3 Pro cards + 8 International cards
* **CHAMPION** - Requires a minimum of 3 International cards + 8 Champion cards
* **LEGENDE SHOW** - Requires a minimum of 10 Champion cards + 1 Légende cards
